UKWCT Beenham January 30th 2005

First off there are a couple of bonus pictures. When I went to feed on Friday night there was a little surprise waiting for us. A cat up the tree just outside the wolf enclosure! We managed to get Alba to bed and all the rest of the wolves, but Lunca and Latea were not interested.

After Rich and I had left John went down and persuaded the two girls to come in and by morning the cat had departed.

Today was an interesting day too - no public - it was handlers training. Very well organised by our volunteer liason team who did tests for those wishing to become trainees followed by a brief revision course for everyone else.

I am NOT coming down! Relaxed pictures of the Euros trotting around.

A quick rally... Kodiak and Keenai

      Kadiak moving well

Duma and Dakota making use of the ground that Conor helped me take the fence down from.

Relaxing in the trees

  Kodiak howling.
After that we were briefed on the latest safety enhancements and demonstrated the new technique for doing 'meet and greets'. Once the theory had been covered it was time to go out into the enclosure and practice. I did not take pictures of these as I was busy with the video camera. Film will not be appearing on here though as it is an internal training aid.

    Family Photo...   Time to relax

Duma trying to sneak out at the back then given one last rub by Alex

That was the end of the formal day so we locked up all of the volunteers on the hardstanding until we need them again next weekend :-)
Not really... we all headed back up the hill for a nice warming tea / coffee and a debrief to comment on any improvements and question time.
