Newbury Show 2004

My first show in a while - not because I have not been down for shows, just that they have been cancelled for one reason or another.

It was an early start, 6am leaving the house to be at the farm for 6:30am ready to pack merchandise, pick up the wolves and leave around 7:00... without any coffee either!

Once we arrived it was time to get the wolves out and set out the merchandise. Doesn't it all look really pretty!

We did a load of meet and greets during the day for donations and sold a reasonable amount of merchandise - including another of the TY Beanie Howl wolves that I supplied.

Also some news on the new Wolf Trust Calendar for 2005 - it should be available from the 1st October - with about 8 of the pictures being mine... so get your orders in early so you have loads to give to people as Xmas pressies. Price has yet to be confirmed.

The last meet and greets of the day were done inside the cage as the wolves were all for relaxing in the last of the days warmth. The wolves were on leads just to make sure and everything was overseen with a Senior handler present in the cage.

This illustrates the airlock - both doors are double bolted.
ALL bolts must be closed before you start opening the next ones.

The girls got out of the cage at around 7:15pm, then it was time to start taking the cage down. It was a cloudy evening anyway so it got dark very quickly. Whilst there are spotlights around the ground, it was a bit dark where we were so by 9:00pm when we finished packing up you could barely see anything!

All in all - a really good day - I got to go up the 80ft pole again - I think I was a fair amount quicker than last year, but it was not timed so I am not totally sure. For lunch I had a Welsh Lamb Oggie - which was deffinitely better than a Cornish pastie and I highly recommend them!

It is the last show of the season next weeked - which is Malvern. Unfortunately I will not be going, but I am cleaning on the Sunday, so hope to get some photo's.
