Firstly, an appology - I am not sure what happened today, but the focusing was terrible.
A bit of good news when we arrived at the Trust - no cleaning... the wolves had spent the night out, so we sat around chatting for a little while then set into doing some work. Wire brushing the Euro's sleeping / cage area ready for repainting. Basically scraping off all the old loose paint and rust.
After about an hour (probably more) of doing that in the glorious sunshine it was time for a break. As there were two ASHs (Assisstant Senior Handlers) present we were able to go in and spend some time with Duma and Dakota. However, as it was so hot, they were sensible and just wanted to go and sit in the shade.
When Rich (Senior handler) arrived the girls did come down again briefly to say hello, which is when I managed a few photos.
After this it was time to pack up and go to the woods for the walk. So after our briefing of who would be doing what we packed up the Euro's into the trailer for the walk. This is the first time they have been out in quite a while as it is hard to get enough Euro handlers together at the same time, so we were in for an interesting and different experience from the 'girls'.
Sure enough when they arrived at the woods they were very eager to get off and it was only well anchored handlers that prevented a full on charge. The walk was reasonably relaxed though and even Alba allowed people to do a meet and greet with him - A rare few shots (there would have been more, but they were all blury...) Also rare shots of John handling as usually when he is on the walk he is in charge and does not get to handle.
Then at the stump it was time for the wolves to cool off with a mud bath -
which was a little smelly...
Then the rinse off in the lake, which saw Rich and Alex up to their knees.
Back to the Trust - teas and coffees for the guests, then time to relax whilst they wandered to the bottom and back followed by taking Duma and Dakota around the farm for our handlers training.
