A day of maintenance at the farm... This was not a day that I was expecting to be spending at Beenham, so as a last minute decision I decided to go up and help with some tidying up that needed doing.
It is surprising the amount of work that needs doing around the place to keep it looking nice!
Whilst we do like to try and leave the enclosures to be reasonably natural, you have to remember that the wolves do not have any ungulates in the enclosure to help keep the grass trimmed. This means that we have to do it. For the last couple of years the grass, when cut, has just been left in the enclosure, leading to a matting and slow deteriation of the grass. This year it was decided that the dead gras should be raked out and disposed of properly to encourage new growth.
